If anything, this is the ultimate proof that the political class are so detached from the public that they would much prefer to spend this amount of money (sorry, our money!) on trying to create an opinion that was never there in the first place, rather than face the truth that their dreams were dead in the water.

Despite the media saying the North East referendum was close, anyone who walked the streets soon realised the politicians were going to get a right pasting.

If the government had merely asked the public, this sort of crass abuse of public money could have been avoided.

All the more reason to see this through, help the campaigners and get these Assemblies smashed down.
