Congratulations to you Neil and the MM. This is an unusual victory for common sense. Lets get the word out to the supermarkets and hardware stores like Wickes / B+Q etc - did anyone ever have a clue what a 1823mm x 1823 mm fence panel was anyway?

Great News. Congratulations on not letting go on the uphill battle. I just need my Carlisle parking ticket cancelled now.

Well done! It encourages me to chase up all these silly mail order catalogues to press for imperial measurements.

This is very welcome news when it is the Commission itself that has proposed that "supplementary indicators" (i.e. dual pricing) will be allowed to continue indefinitely. However, it is worth mentioning a few salient points:

1. It is still an offence to sell a pound of bananas and will remain so.

2. Supplementary indicators are voluntary. There is no right to have Imperial as well as metric labelling.

3. The Govt legislated against supplementary indicators by banning them from the end of 2009 in Statutory Instrument 2001 No. 55, The Units of Measurement Regulations 2001. HMG needs to repeal this regulation in order to comply with the new position of the Commission.

Congratulation, I doubt this is the end of the war just a major battle won.
This should be celebrated mainly for the fact common sense has for once prevailed. so rare in these times we live.
