Two tier Parking Fine Con ... smoke, mirrors and Nostradamus

Well, we did tell you that the differential penalties introduced in London 'to make fining people fairer' was nothing more than a 'smoke and mirrors' operation to increase the motorists' guilt factor by the shroud waving local authorities in order for them to have moral justification for fining more for what they class as more 'serious' offences.

Would you believe that the revenue has gone up?

Can't be a deterrent then ... simply another way to stealth tax more money from the motoring public.

Read here how Islington Council has raked in a cool extra £million.

The Islington Gazette has discovered that 77 per cent of all tickets issued since the change in July have been set at the £120 rate, while only 23 per cent of drivers paid the lesser amount.

When it adopted the scheme, Islington Council said "residents will agree that this is exactly the kind of fair and proportionate approach Islington needs".

It added that this was part of a "common sense" approach.

Common sense can now be labelled 'a nice little earner.'

Just watch the ears prick up across the country ... and watch all the councils follow the common sense moral justification approach.

One doesn't need to be Nostradamus to predict the future.
