Noes growing by the Day

Reports from the Leafleters

Darlington
Everything was going really well until around 1pm, and then the heavens opened and more or less remained that way until we got home.
It poured down, I'm afraid.
At around 4pm, we finally had to give up and head home. Not only were we soaked, but despite every effort to keep them dry, by that time the leaflets were too.
Never mind.
However.. despite that, we managed to deliver 3500.
It was extremely heartening though.. of all the people we spoke to, NOT ONE indicated that they would vote yes. Hope this bodes well for the 4th.
Another thing which actually quite surprised me.. they all seemed to be quite informed and knowledgeable about the issues involved.
There was a sort of ... stubborn bloody-mindedness... about their attitude which made me feel good inside.
Many thanks for all your help and for all your hard work, Archie.
We'll be praying for the right and proper outcome on the day.
Kindest regards
JO & Co.

Hi Neil,
One thing which you may find interesting...
Yes speaker Chris Foote-Wood (Lib-Dem Councillor) confirmed his wish to stand for the Assembly, but continued to announce that the 25 members needed to be larger.

I'm sorry, but the public have been asked to vote for 25 members of the Assembly, and the Yes campaign is using this smallish figure as a guide to saying it won't cost that much. However, as we see, people who wish to stand are already talking about increasing its size.

One last point, if this is so important to the future of the North East then why are 21 of the (so called) 25 going to be part-time. Part-time on full time wages.
As a reminder, the vote at the end of the debate was 27 No, 3 Yes.
Regards
Jim

Hello Neil,
Five thousand leaflets out and we have yet to meet anyone who is voting yes.
Keep up the good work.
Mike
