This breaking news involves a German bar-restaurant in Glasgow run by Gordon (a Scot) and Petra (a German) ... they face prosecution for selling beer by the litre. As well as being a criminal offence to sell bananas by the pound it is also a criminal offence to sell beer by the litre.
While many are quite happy swilling litres of beer in Germany whilst watching the World Cup, the absurdity of the Metrication Regulations is that it is a crime to do so in this country...even in a German theme bar in the former Capital City of European Culture!
Our new Metric Martyrs website, currently undergoing revamping, is at www.metricmartyrs.co.uk

From ricknixon@btinternet.com. In this Metric Martyrs campaign I have yet to see it pointed out that in the Government-produced pamphlet encouraging us to vote "Yes" at the 1975 Referendum was an assurance that "Our way of life would remain the same". That amounts to a Contract and Government(s) are in breach of it, therefore I am free to repudiate The EU and it's laws. This document can be found at www.harvard-digital.co.uk/pamphlet.htm
