Coronation Street saga continues

Whilst gathering evidence of illegal lines and signs in Sunderland and photographing the newly painted white lines in Coronation Street (marked in the Traffic Orders in imperial measures falling foul of the EU Metrication Directive) I spotted three men in dayglo jackets with a measuring wheel.

Highways engineers on a 'survey' they said. At first one refused to give his name but eventually did. They confirmed that they were checking the TROs and had a number highlighted on a clipboard.

I pointed out that the Coronation Street Bays and a number of others were in imperial and that if they needed a hand identifying the rest I would point them in the right direction.

"It is your opinion"

Nice to see that they are checking the lines and re-marking the roads to correct 'an opinion.'

I can only hope that it’s not the same council workmen (and yes I do know that’s a contradiction) that remarked the bays in Houghton-Le-Spring.

Several “attempts” later, and some of the bays are still incorrect and the road looks like a three year old has been playing with a paint set.

In case anyone wonders who paid for the incorrect attempts, wait for the rise in council tax next year.
