"Anti-EU Campaign Group throws down the 'Martini Debate' Gauntlet to the Minister for Europe...
'anytime, anyplace, anywhere!'
The North East based Anti-EU Campaign group, The People's No Campaign, today threw down the gauntlet to Minister for Europe, Geoff Hoon. At a recent event in the North East organised by Sovereign Strategy ( CEO Alan Donnelly, former Labour MEP) on behalf of the North East Economic Forum he stated that he wished to "re-establish the link between the big issues and the EU in the eyes of the public." He went on to say that what he wanted to see was "an adult debate on the substance on what the EU is about so that people can decide for themselves."
Neil Herron the People's No Campaign Director, who was also the Campaign Director of the North East No Campaign that inflicted an overwhelming and emphatic defeat of John Prescott's proposals for an Elected Regional Assembly in 2004, states:
"It is nice to see that the Minister for Europe wants to engage in an adult debate on the subject of the European Union. We have a lot of unanswered questions and we are going to offer him the chance of that 'adult debate' at a time and place of his choosing in the North East. We can guarantee a packed house and a balanced audience and we will ensure that the Chairman is a person of absolute integrity. We have been looking forward to this opportunity for many years. Let us hope that Mr. Hoon is a man of his word."

Hmmm, he's a politician and there is some ambiguity in his statememnt. When he says adult debate, perhaps he means the usual handpicked audience of EU federalists but they'll be all be taking part in a mass orgy at the same time?
any "Foreign" Law is Illegal here as our Monarch decreed in Her 1952 Coronation Oath, simple as
What defeat did you inflict upon prescott?the RAs were already in operation by the time of the PR vote, only now we have unelected RAs instead siphoning our council taxes in secret for thier foreign masters.
every single person under English Law has the right to "Trial by Jury", am I missing something here?
Neil,
thanks a lot once again for your great website and your blogs. They're really refreshing and demonstrate a terrific determination and much extremely hard work. Let's hope they 'contaminate' many readers!
I've just read your speech in Trafalgar Square. I'd very much liked to have been there for it.
With regard to the planned debate with Mr. Hoon, I've attached two annexes above (which I think I've already sent to you once) to this email which may be useful for the debate and certainly demonstrate the futility and corruption that is the 'EU'. The one annex shows the result of a 'phone-in poll run by the very largest popular newspaper in Germany ("BILD" newspaper). The question was, "Do you want the EU constitution? JA or NEIN?" Just short of 400,000 readers rang in and 96.9% of them said a resounding "NEIN"!! This sent shock waves through the German government establishment circles!
The other annex shows the squandering of public money for useless and probably corrupt EU projects.
As you probably know, the German electorate is strongly against the euro and would like the deutschmark back. The majority of those asked in a poll in France also said that they'd like the Franc back.
Below is the text of an email about the surrender of the British EU rebate, which I sent (with the two above annexes) to Gordon Brown at the Exchequer. The text of my letter to him is laid out below.
Keep up the great work Neil and keep the blogs coming.
All the best

"Dear Chancellor of the Exchequer,
in view of the fact that the British government has now effectively abandoned a great part of the rebate we have received for some considerable time from the EU, we are now faced with an extra financial burden for which no plausible justification exists.
As a British citizen living here in Germany for over 30 years now, I am witnessing the demise of a vibrant German economy due to the fact that introduction of the euro has paralysed the economic and industrial sectors. It is also preventing the country controlling its own finances through such instruments as reflation and deflation.
The country has dropped drastically in the league of economic powers, unemployment is running at record levels, and pensions and medical services are being drastically cut.
I hereby request you, especially should you replace Mr. Blair as Premier, to thoroughly reconsider Britain's position in regard to the heavy - and unnecessary - deficit burden she is shouldering in her relations with the EU. If Britain adds the euro to the existing problems she has with the EU, the consequences can be already clearly seen - look at Germany.
As an example of the mood among the electorate in Germany in regard to the proposed EU constitution following the French and Dutch rejections (see appendix I attached to this email), and to "Brussels" squandering of taxpayers' hard-earned money (appendix II). Polls here have shown fierce and constant majority opposition to the euro and many Germans favour the reinstatement of the deutschmark. In France too, a poll demonstrated the wish of a majority of the electorate for a return of the franc. As to the rejection in Germany of the EU constitution proposal, the people are sick and tired of being patronised by the Bundestag on European issues in general and by the Bundestag not permitting them to decide for themselves in referenda.
The appendices attached to this email are reports and polls run by BILD Zeitung, the largest circulation newspaper in Germany. They sent shock waves through the German governmental establishment.
